About your hosts

NATASHA LEWINGER & HARIS MIHAIL

Natasha and Haris are milongueros, professional dancers, organizers, choreographers, musicians and tango teachers. They started dancing in 2005 and 2006 respectively and their paths finally met in the beginning of 2016 in Buenos Aires.

Since 2011, they have been mainly teaching and dancing at festivals, championships and special events in Europe, Asia and America.

They are internationally recognized for their connection, elegance, musicality, dynamics and quality.

Their style unifies the social tango in the milongas and the aesthetics of stage tango to provide a rich but real vision of tango without the abuse of figures that do not belong to tango. They both love social dancing, therefore, they are caretakers of the tango culture of “El Río De La Plata” that emphasizes the tango as a social and cultural element.

SILVIA BIVOLARU & WINSTON VEERENDER

Silvia and Winston met in London in 2016 and started working together a year later.

In 2017 they founded Tango Amistoso, a rapidly growing school focused on mindfully studying Tango whilst building friendships and a welcoming community, which now has hundreds of students and visitors, multiple classes everyday and 4 milongas per week.

Silvia started her tango journey in Romania, 2 years before moving to London in 2017 and starting her partnership with Winston, who discovered Tango in 2008.

Tango Amistoso has regular local teachers and international visitors during the entire year, bringing diversity and different styles of tango to the London tango community.

They have grown together and their strong bond is showing through their art and dance.

USEFUL INFORMATION AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. How much do things cost in Argentina and Uruguay? We will keep everyone updated on the latest rates in Argentina before the trip but to give you an idea, dinner at an average restaurant will cost around £10 per person, a milonga entrance around £3, a taxi to a milonga around £3-8, a coffee around £3.
  2. For Uruguay, expenses are a bit higher than in Argentina
  3. Do I need to have prior tango experience to participate? Yes. This retreat is directed towards dancers who have taken tango classes before and have at least some experience attending milongas.

  4. Can I book private lessons at the building studio? Yes. There will be space in between the scheduled activities to book your own private classes if you wish. Just contact the hosts to organize them in advance.

  5. What if my non tango partner wants to join me on the trip? They can. There will be plenty of free time outside of the schedule and you are free to go to any place with whomever you want. There are several rooms at the tango building that can accommodate couples.

  6. Can I book the tango retreat just for the argentinian part (10 days)? Yes. It is possible to book just the first 10 days in Buenos Aires. However take in consideration that on March 7th the hosts and the rest of the participants will travel to Uruguay and you will need to sort your trip to the airport and/or the extra accommodation days in Buenos Aires on your own.

  7. Can I arrive before or leave later outside of the scheduled dates? Yes. You can arrive a day earlier and stay at Luna Lina if you want and if there is still available space and you can stay a day extra in Montevideo under the same circumstances. For more days you will need to find another accommodation in the case of Luna Lila.

  8. Do I have to know how to speak Spanish? No. While it’s certainly helpful to have a bit of language knowledge when you are traveling to a Spanish speaking country, it’s not necessary. The classes on the tango retreat will be taught in English and the hosts will be available for any translation that could be needed in case that the visiting teacher struggles with their english. If you wish to learn some spanish basics, there will be the option of 4 hours of spanish classes.
